The Pikk League Game Bonus
Explanation and calculation of the Game Bonus
What is the Game Bonus?
How it's calculated and how it affects your score.
The Game Bonus explained
Each pick is awarded a Game Bonus ranging from 0–9 points, based on the perceived difficulty of the selection.
The easiest picks may score 0 points, while the most difficult picks can score up to 9 points.
The Game Bonus is calculated using three factors:
- The strength of the team you pick (0–4 points)
- The strength of their opponent (0–4 points)
- Whether the match is home or away (0–1 point)
Team Tiers
Each team is assigned a tier to represent its relative strength. These tiers are based on bookmaker odds and are set before the start of each season. They do not change during the season.
While teams may overperform or underperform expectations during the season, the tier system remains fixed and applies equally to all players.
2026/27 Season Tiers
- Tier 1: Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Man United
- Tier 2: Chelsea, Aston Villa, Spurs, Newcastle
- Tier 3: Bournemouth, Brighton, Everton, Brentford
- Tier 4: Forest, Leeds, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Sunderland
- Tier 5: Ipswich, Coventry, Hull
Examples
When you make a pick, you will see a Game Bonus value shown next to each option.
For example: Arsenal (1) vs (8) Fulham
This means selecting Arsenal would award a Game Bonus of 1 point, while selecting Fulham would award 8 points. Riskier picks are therefore rewarded more heavily.
Example 1: Picking Arsenal
- Arsenal (Tier 1): 0 points
- Fulham (Tier 4): 1 point
- Home advantage: 0 points
- Total: 1 point
Example 2: Picking Fulham
- Fulham (Tier 4): 3 points
- Arsenal (Tier 1): 4 points
- Away fixture: 1 point
- Total: 8 points
The Game Bonus ensures that taking bigger risks can lead to higher rewards, while safer picks will generally score fewer points.
